Bryles Research was founded in 1969 by Doris Bryles, with the help of her husband Conrad, in Palos Heights, IL – a suburb southwest of Chicago. In the early years, Bryles Research specialized in field, telephone, and door-to-door marketing research. Doris built the company throughout the 1970’s with a diverse set of field workers driven by her own desire to provide great results.
In 1977 Doris’s son Robert Bryles began his career with Bryles Research. Using his keen business sense and accounting background, Robert expanded the company from mainly field research to data collection within large urban shopping centers. Bryles research was an early entrant and innovator in the mall intercept methodology. It grew in the 1980’s to five mall facilities across the Midwest in the Chicago, IL, Duluth, MN and Springfield, MO areas. In 1988, Robert’s wife, Nancy, began her career at Bryles Research and helped to expand upon its mall expertise to include qualitative research, central location testing, and executive interviewing.
During the 1990’s Robert and Nancy increased the focus of Bryles Research on qualitative research and pre-recruited central location testing. Nancy’s intense drive for quality, client-focused results helped to build the company throughout the 1990’s into the new millennium to 75 employees in three states and six offices.
Bryles Research continued to expand in the 2000’s and welcomed Robert and Nancy’s sons, Scott Bryles in 2003 and Jeff Bryles in 2005, as the third generation of Bryles’ with the firm. With the 2003 opening of its new corporate headquarters in Mokena, IL, Bryles Research began its transition away from mall-based research and towards qualitative research methodologies and product testing. Bryles Research soon built a new focus group facility in Springfield, MO, where it had been working with the local and national clients for 20 years. In 2007, Bryles Research expanded again with the opening of its largest facility – a 12,000 square foot qualitative and product testing research facility in the northwest suburbs of Dallas, TX.
Over the past 15 years, Bryles Research has become a leader in product testing and large scale taste testing. With the ability to serve traditional sit down restaurants, quick services restaurants, and cook at home products, Bryles Research is experience in all facets of product testing and design. All of Bryles Research facilities are designed to accommodate this very specific research methodology.
Today Bryles Research is headquartered in Mokena, IL. Its research offices in the Chicago, IL, Springfield, MO, and Dallas, TX markets are staffed by approximately 125 full time and part time employees. Bryles Research is a member of the Marketing Research Association, and takes an active role to help guide our industry through the ever-changing marketplace.
